Use Team Roles to show who is responsible for each client relationship. Choose which roles count as primary, then assign your team members to the clients they support. Primary assignments appear as Account Owners in account-wide Meetings.
Before you begin
You need access to account-team management to change role settings, and the appropriate client-settings permissions and client access to assign people. Team Roles describe responsibilities; they do not grant application or client-access permissions.
Choose primary roles
- Open Settings > Clients > Team Roles.
- Review the account’s role list.
- Mark the roles that should count as primary. Account Manager is primary by default; you can choose different roles or several primary roles.
- Wait for your changes to save.
A role’s primary setting applies across the account. Changing it affects every client where that role is assigned. It does not assign new people to clients.
Assign people to a client
- Choose the client whose account team you want to manage.
- Select the role and the team members to assign. The Team Roles page can assign several selected users to one role for one chosen client.
- Review the client’s account team. Existing assignments outside your selection are preserved.
You can also manage team membership from the client’s Dashboard or Client Settings where your permissions allow. The Dashboard highlights primary assignments and offers Undo for supported recent changes.
Understand Account Owner and Meeting Owner
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Account Owner | An active account-team member assigned a primary role on the client. A client can have several owners or none. |
| Meeting Owner | The person responsible for one meeting. This is separate from the client’s primary account-team assignments. |
On account-wide Meetings, show or filter by Account Owner to review meetings for the clients a person supports. This can include meetings owned by someone else. A client without an active member in a primary role has no Account Owner; supporting members are not used as a fallback.
Primary team members also provide the default reply targets for scheduled Deliverables, so review those assignments when planning client communications.
Troubleshooting
- An owner is missing: confirm the member is active, assigned to this client and using a role marked primary.
- A role name looks correct but ownership is missing: check its primary setting. The name alone does not make the role primary.
- Someone cannot access the client: review user permissions and Client Access Groups separately. Team assignment does not grant access.
