Access groups in ScalePad CS control which clients your team members can see. They aren't designed to give your clients access to ScalePad CS.
Can I add my clients to ScalePad CS?
We recommend that you don't add your clients' users to ScalePad CS. ScalePad CS doesn't have a client-only user experience. Every user you invite gets the same app your team uses, limited only by the role and access groups you give them.
| Warning: If you've already invited client users, review their access now. Make sure none of them has the Administrator role, then remove them from your account if you don't need them there. |
Why we don't recommend it
- ScalePad CS is built for your team. It holds information and workflows meant only for your MSP, such as price markup and other operational data.
- It's easy to show a client more than you intend. Limiting a user to one client depends on several settings working together: a role without the Administrator role, the right access group assignments, and Default deny. If any one of them is missed, that user can see other clients' data.
- Even a correct setup isn't a client experience. A client user still signs in to the same ScalePad CS your team uses, including pages and data you'd never show a client, such as agreement markup.
What access groups are designed for
Access groups let you split your ScalePad CS clients among your own team members. For example, an MSP with several locations or teams in one account can make sure each team only sees the clients it manages.
Access groups aren't a supported way to give end clients access to ScalePad CS.
How to limit access for your team members
To control which clients your team members can see, use access groups with roles that don't include the Administrator role. Keep the following in mind:
- Administrators always see every client, whatever access groups they're in.
- Users see the clients in every access group they're assigned to.
- Unless Default deny is turned on in Access groups settings, users also see every client that isn't in an access group.
For the full setup, see Configuring Access Groups. To set up roles, see Manage roles and permissions in Lifecycle Manager.
