Assign hardware types in the new UI

Use the Hardware table to change the type assigned to one or more synced assets. Creating a type, assigning it to assets, and mapping integration types are separate actions.

  1. Open Hardware for All clients, or select a client and open its Hardware table.
  2. Search or filter the table and select the assets to update. Check the selected assets before continuing.
  3. Open the selection's bulk actions and choose Change Type.
  4. Choose a hardware type from the list. Wait for the update to complete, then confirm the assets show the expected type.

Choose the right type-management workflow

For a flat list of hardware types, use Settings > Hardware > Types to create or manage types and account replacement criteria. If that page says Hardware type categories are not available here yet, use Go to Manage Asset Types. That account uses categorized types and manages them in the Integration Center. See Manage custom hardware types for subtype creation and integration mappings.

Check the result

Changing the hardware type can change the replacement criteria used in budgeting. Where individual-device replacement costs are available, changing to a different type clears that device's cost override; selecting the same type retains it. Review the asset and its budget after reassignment.

If Change Type is unavailable, check your access to the selected clients and your hardware-setting permissions. A manual reassignment does not configure future integration mappings.
