Plan agreement price increases in forecasts

Model an expected agreement price increase before it happens so your client’s forecast reflects the budget you are planning. A planned increase changes forecast calculations; it does not update prices in your PSA.

Before you begin

You need access to view and update a PSA-synced agreement. Planned increases apply to recurring pricing. One-time items, billing cadence and the source prices remain unchanged. If a historical billing override prevents planning an increase, clear that override before proceeding.

Open the planned-increase form

  1. In the left navigation, under Manage, select Agreements.
  2. Find the client’s PSA-synced agreement using the search box or client filter, then select its agreement name. The agreement opens in a details drawer on the right.
1. Open Agreements and select the agreement name to open its details drawer. Example shown with mock data.

  1. On the drawer’s Details tab, scroll down past Billing and the line-item summary to Price Increases.
  2. Select Plan increase. This opens the Plan price increase form.
2. On the Details tab, scroll below Billing and the line-item summary. Select Plan increase in Price Increases. Example shown with mock data.
2. On the Details tab, scroll below Billing and the line-item summary. Select Plan increase in Price Increases. Example shown with mock data.

If you do not see Plan increase, confirm that the agreement is synced from your PSA and that you have permission to update it. Manually created agreements do not show this control.

Add a planned increase

3. Enter the percentage, starting date, and agreement or line-item scope in the Plan price increase form. Example shown with mock data.
3. Enter the percentage, starting date, and agreement or line-item scope in the Plan price increase form. Example shown with mock data.
  1. Enter the percentage under Increase.
  2. Choose a future date under Starting.
  3. Under Applies to, choose the agreement default or the individual recurring line item.
  4. Review the price preview, then select Add increase.
  5. Review the affected billing periods in the client forecast.

How the forecast uses the increase

While the rule is pending, forecast billing occurrences on or after its future effective date use the percentage against the latest source amount. For example, a pending 5% increase on a recurring amount of $1,000 projects $1,050 for affected future billing occurrences.

At the start of the effective date in UTC, the planned rule stops applying to newly calculated forecasts. Forecasts then use PSA-supplied prices, even if the PSA has not yet been updated. Make the real price change in your PSA when appropriate; the planned increase is not a PSA write-back or a permanent price override.

Agreement defaults and item exceptions

An item’s pending increase replaces the agreement-level default for that item from the item rule’s effective date. A 0% item rule explicitly exempts the item. Removing the item rule restores any applicable agreement default. Only one pending rule can exist for each agreement or item target.

Edit or remove a planned increase

  1. Return to the agreement’s Price Increases section.
  2. Open the actions menu for the pending increase.
  3. Choose the edit action, review the percentage and date, then select Save changes; or use the remove action if the increase is no longer needed.
  4. Review the forecast again.

The History section retains ended and cancelled rules so you can review previous plans. It is a history of planning rules, not proof that a price change was applied in the PSA.
