How to mark retired hardware assets as inactive

Retire an asset through its source integration

Retire or deactivate the hardware in its authoritative source system first. Open the ScalePad Hub Integration Center, select the connection, and review its supported status, type or check-in filters. Save changed settings and run that connection’s sync, then verify the asset’s source associations.

A device can remain present if another included integration still supplies an active record. Review every contributing source before expecting it to disappear. Hiding an asset in Lifecycle Manager is a reporting choice; it does not retire it upstream or prove that syncing stopped. Use the sync action and state offered by the current Integration Center rather than relying on the old green icon’s location.

Many of our partners replace hardware assets for their clients and no longer want to monitor the warranty status on those assets. This article explains how to mark replaced assets as inactive, so they don't sync into Lifecycle Manager.

How to remove retired hardware assets from syncing

  1. Navigate to your remote system containing the retired hardware assets

  2. Select the retired assets and mark them as inactive

  3. Navigate to the Integrations page of the ScalePad Hub and click the green Sync Now icon in the upper right of the screen to initiate a fresh sync.

Verify the retired hardware assets are no longer syncing

  1. Navigate to your Integrations

  2. Select your integration to view its sync settings (e.g. IT Glue)

  3. Verify that the retired configuration types/statuses are not mapped to sync into Lifecycle Manager

    1. If they are still mapped to sync, clear the applicable boxes and save your changes

In the following example, we're looking at IT Glue sync settings for configuration statuses.

Different integrations will have different options - Depending on the integration(s) you're adjusting your sync settings for, they will have different options for hardware asset types and organization types for syncing into Lifecycle Manager.

For example, RMM tools may have device check-in limits, rather than individual hardware asset mapping.

Once you've completed the above steps and your retired hardware assets are successfully marked as inactive, they should no longer sync into Lifecycle Manager.
