Identifying hardware assets efficiently is critical for effective asset management, which reduces costs and optimizes clients’ IT infrastructure. By utilizing the Hardware console to view all assets and refining data filters, you can reduce an overwhelming asset list to a focused and manageable list.
You can filter data to create smaller, more manageable sets based on meaningful categories. The filtering feature allows you to select one or multiple options from a list of items. As a result, Lifecycle Manager provides a more refined, drilled-down search experience.
These filters make it easier to recognize and view key data, providing instant feedback and the option to make minimal, progressive modifications. These filters lower the dependence on Personalized Insights to find resources that require action. Your capacity to discover and reveal customer insights should improve.
How to apply filtering on the Hardware console
Lifecycle Manager can filter data based on any available field, so you can find a specific hardware asset or a list of workstations with an unsupported OS.
Type | Types include Server, Workstation, Virtual Machines (VM), Mobile, Network, and Imaging. |
Manufacturer | Is or Is not |
Software | Filter your results based on whether a software product is installed/not installed. |
Software category | For example, you can filter search results based solely on Endpoint protection software. |
Memory | Filter your results based on whether memory is Between, Under, or Over a specified value. |
Age | Filter your results based on whether memory is Between, Under, or Over a specified value. |
Backup | Filter your results based on whether assets have a configured backup or no configured backup. |
Warranty | Filter your results by current warranty coverage. Options include Expired, Not Expired, and Unknown. |
Total storage | Filter your results based on whether total storage is Between, Under, or Over a specified value. |
OS status | Whether the OS is Supported, Unknown, Unsupported, or Unsupported Soon. |
ScalePad Warranty Availability | Filter your results based on whether assets are available for ScalePad warranty coverage. |
Processor Manufacturer | Filter your results by processor manufacturer. (i.e., AMD or Intel) |
Integration Sources | Filter your results by integration source. |
In Initiative | Filter your results based on whether assets are currently included in an Initiative or have yet to be included in an Initiative. |
Hidden assets, Insights, and DMI
Insights and DMI should reflect a realistic assessment of your client's environment, so hidden assets count towards any applicable insights and your DMI score.
Using the general search bar
The search bar can also narrow a search if you’re not exactly sure what you’re looking for. You can use the search bar to identify assets with a particular client to see if you have installed a specific software product.
Full and partial word search
The search supports a partial and full word search. Ensure that spaces exist between each full word.
For example, if you want to focus a search on a specific client, enter the clients' name. To further refine the search, enter a manufacturer’s name and then the asset model. As an example, a full-word search could look like Dell OptiPlex 9020.
Customizing hardware console using configurable columns
Configuring columns allows you to add information to the existing view and make better decisions about what information to show to clients or what assets to add to an Initiative.
How to add/remove columns in the Hardware console
Click the Choose columns button
Based on the information you want to view in the Hardware console, select or deselect the desired columns.
You don't need to refresh when you add or take away columns from the console.
The column choices are:
User - last logged in user
Type - hardware asset type
Manufacturer - asset manufactuer
Model - asset model
Processor - Processor model and manufacturer
Processor information is included in the spreadsheet export as two separate columns which are:
Processor Model
Processor Manufacturer
Purchased - asset purchase date
Expires - Warranty expiration date
Memory - total memory on asset
Total Storage - Total storage specifications
OS - currently installed operating system
Renew - ScalePad warranty renewal
Initiative - shows if an asset is included in an initiative
