Initiatives aren't limited to creating new Initiatives from an Insights pane. In fact, to ensure that you have the ability to act on specific problem assets, you have the ability to supplement existing initiatives with other assets you’ve found that share the same problem you’re already addressing in the existing initiative.

The following steps include the following sections:

  1. How to add insights to existing initiatives

    1. How to add an Insight to a draft Initiative with no assets

    2. How to merge Insights to an existing initiative

    3. How to manually add assets

How to add insights to existing initiatives

From the details of predefined client insights, you can supplement an Initiative without having to resort to creating an entirely new Initiative.

For example, let’s assume you’ve been reviewing existing Initiatives (from the Initiatives list view) and you realize there is no Initiative for the insight “Workstations with warranties that expire soon”. You can create a draft initiative (with no assets) and add the assets from the Insight later.

How to add an Insight to a draft Initiative with no assets

Here are the steps to do that:

  1. Click into the desired insight you want to take action on

  2. From the detailed Insight Asset Console, click the + Add to Initiative button.

  3. From the Take action on this asset dialog, under the Add to heading, click + Existing Initiative and select from the list of draft Initiatives.

  4. Once the desired template is selected, click Finish.

  5. All assets included in the Insight are added to the Initiative in the Assets section.

How to merge Insights to an existing initiative

Let’s assume you’ve been reviewing Insights and you create a draft initiative from the “Workstations with warranties that expire soon” Insight. This Insight includes 18 assets that are non-compliant.

Here are the steps to do that:

  1. Click into the desired insight you want to take action on

  2. From the detailed Insight Asset Console, click the + Add to Initiative button.

  3. From the Take action on this asset dialog, under the Add to heading, click + New Initiative and select from the list of recommended Initiative templates (Workstation Protection)

  4. Once the desired template is selected, click Finish.

  5. Go back to the Client Dashboard to further review

  6. Click into a different insight you want to take action on

  7. From the Take action on this asset dialog, under the Add to heading, click + Existing Initiative and select from the list of draft Initiatives.

How to manually add assets

When creating an initiative from an insight, all assets in that insight are, by default, included in the draft Initiative. You can further customize the Initiative by adding or removing assets from the Initiative.

If you have a specific asset in mind to add to an Initiative:

  1. Click the Add assets… button.

  2. In the Add assets dialog, enter the name or the serial number of the asset you wish to add.
As you begin to type a name or serial number in the Add assets dialog, the autocomplete suggests matching assets in a drop-down section. The list is refined with each character you type.

  3. Select the asset to include in the Initiative and click the Add selected assets button.

Note that multiple assets can be added at one time.

In the following example, the selected assets kl-HipFlow.mn and kl-OrbPoint.mn have been added to the initial Initiative of 2 servers. Both manually added assets are not compliant with the initial insight rule of Servers over 7 yrs old without warranty coverage, but our platform has the flexibility to add assets to an initiative that may fall just outside the rules of a particular insight, enabling a more proactive approach with clients.

ScalePad Lifecycle Manager includes the User for each asset as asset names/serials do not always help the client identify exactly which devices are being proposed for renewal.

To remove an asset from an initiative:

  1. Select the checkbox beside the asset in the asset table

  2. Click Remove asset

To remove bulk assets from an initiative:

  1. Select the bulk asset selection checkbox

  2. Clear any individual checkboxes you want to keep

  3. Click Remove
