You can assess your client’s infrastructure regardless of whether their assets comply with Insight’s rules or not.

Within a specified number of days (up to 120 days), Lifecycle Manager can forecast assets that are not compliant with an insights rule. This enables you to plan and budget for those assets before they comply with an insights rule.

Forecasting asset details are visible once inside the insight console. The asset list is identical to the typical insight experience, but also shows assets that are non-compliant with the Insight rule within the specified number of days' timeframe.

For example, the following image captures a time-based insight that shows 60 assets that comply with the insight rule “Slow workstations” (workstations that are over 5 years old). The Purchased column shows every asset’s age (over 5 years). The screen image shows only 4 of the 60 assets.

The following image captures the same time-based insight of “Slow workstations" (workstations that are over 5 years old) forecasting at 30 days out. However, the asset list shows there is one additional asset that will comply with the insight rule “Slow workstations" (workstations that are over 5 years old) within 30 days. Sorting the Purchased column shows the age (within 30 days of rule compliance) of each asset that fits.

The following image shows the insight for “Slow workstations” (workstations over 5 years old) forecasting at 120 days out. According to the asset list, five assets will comply with the insight rule “Slow workstations” (workstations over 5 years old) within 120 days. Sorting the Purchased column shows the age (within 120 days of rule compliance) of each asset that fits.

No forecasted assets are displayed within an insight

If no forecasted assets are visible on the insight asset list, see No assets are detected to be non-compliant within the specified time frame.

Filtering forecasted assets

The Forecast filter enables you to see a list of assets that will be compliant within a specified time frame that ranges from 30 to 120 days.

  • Now - viewing assets that comply with an insight's rule.

  • 30 days - includes assets that will comply with an Insight's rule within 30 days.

  • 60 days - includes assets that will comply an Insight's rule within 60 days.

  • 90 days - includes assets that will comply with an Insight's rule within 90 days.

  • 120 days - includes assets that will comply with an Insight's rule within 120 days.

Identify assets to be added to Initiatives

Insights help you identify problem assets that need action, and you can determine which assets already have “a plan” or need inclusion in an action-specific initiative.

Using the previous example, selecting the Is not in Initiative filter only displays assets that have yet to be included in an Initiative.

The asset list shows there are now only 30 assets available to be actioned on. 35 assets of the initial Insight already ‘have an action plan”. The asset list includes five assets that will comply with the insight rule "Slow workstations" (workstations over 5 years old) within 120 days.

No assets are detected to be non-compliant

You may run into a situation where no forecasted assets are visible on the insight asset list. Several reasons why no forecasted assets are visible are outlined below:

  • Forecasted assets insight consoles are only available for time-based insights

    • For example, assets over a certain age, assets with expiring warranties, assets with unsupported OS, etc.

  • Forecasted assets are outside the specified day range of being non-compliant with an insights rule.
