Initiatives aren't limited to creating a new Initiative from an Insights pane. In fact, to ensure that you have the ability to act on specific problem assets, you also have the ability to create custom Initiatives.

How to create an Initiative from an Insight

From the details of predefined client insights, you can create an Initiative (similar to a project) to mitigate critical asset issues and execute a proactive approach to asset management.

For example, let’s assume you’ve been reviewing several insights for a client. You focus on an insight for old servers without warranty coverage. Once selected, you 'create an initiative' to propose to replace these servers with the client, which populates the listed assets in a basic initiative view.

Here are the steps to do that:

  1. Click into the desired insight you want to take action on

  2. From the detailed Insight Asset Console, click the + Add to Initiative button.

  3. From the Take action on this asset dialog, under the Add to heading, click + New Initiative and select from the list of Initiative templates. For example, select Server Replacement.

  4. Once the desired template is selected, click Finish.

Default template recommendations

When deciding to select a template for an initiative, ScalePad Lifecycle Manager defaults to a 'suggested' template based on the selected Insight or included assets. For example, when creating an initiative from High-risk servers, the suggested templates for use are Cloud Migration and Server Replacement.

How to create Initiatives from the client Initiative list view

From your client's page, under the Initiatives tab, you'll find all client initiatives in their various states. You can create new Initiatives and manually add assets into the Initiative at a later time.

Here are the steps to do that:

  1. Navigate to your client's dashboard

  2. Click the Initiatives tab

  3. Click the New Initiative button

  4. Select from the list of existing templates (recommended if you know what asset types you'll be adding) or choose No template (a template can be manually added later).

  5. Once the desired template is selected, click Finish.
